Kappad Beach

Kappad Beach, historically known as Kappakkadavu, is forever etched in the annals of history as the place where the Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama landed on May 20, 1498, marking the beginning of a new epoch of European-Indian trade. The beach features a small stone monument to commemorate this event. With its golden sands, rock formations, and peaceful atmosphere, it offers a blend of historical significance, natural beauty, and a tranquil retreat, also serving as a nesting ground for Olive Ridley turtles.
